Lets delve a little deeper…

Card Machines

Payleven Contactless Card Reader

There is little to choose from between the machines. All the machines are manufactured by Muira Ststems, they use wifi, 3G or 4G. The Worldpay Zinc machine is a different model and all 3 have different software. It’s not a deal breaker. However, Payleven are set to release a contactless machine soon. Watch this space as a contactless reader will make for more seamless and quicker transactions.

Company Profiles

Payleven were the first to market with a mobile chip and PIN reader for the UK. Like iZettle they are a relatively recent startup. By contrast Worldpay are one of the foremost payment processors globally.

WorldPay

  • Est 1989
  • Operate in 40+ countries

iZettle

  • Est 2010
  • HQ in Stockholm

Payleven

  • Est 2012
  • 70 employees

App

You should pay attention to the differences in the apps. With the iZettle App you can pre save items. In the Payleven iOS app items are saved once they have been paid for once. Pre saving items is not possible with WorldPay Zinc and you have to input info each time. With a database of items saved it is easier to process orders, itemise receipts and make refunds so if those are important you should favour iZettle.

Worldpay

  • iOS and Android
  • Simple app, input payment value and description
  • Receipts, refunds, cash payments.

iZettle

  • Android and iOS
  • Store where you can save products
  • refunds done from the app.

Payleven

  • iOS and Android versions
  • Access your account from the app including printer settings
  • Searchable sales history
  • manage staff lists

Account

The best account is WorldPay Zinc for the simple reason you can take payments over the phone and input the details into the account. All offer access to statistics, reports etc. Because the iZettle app is superior you have more info available.

WorldPay Zinc

  • Search for, review and produce reports on all the payments you’ve taken
  • Refund or void payments
  • Re-issue and customise receipts
  • Take card payments manually over the phone.

iZettle

  • Access in depth statistics

Payleven

  • Access and download reports
  • Change bank details and company info
  • Order additional hardware.

Summary

These three popular payment processors all offer solutions which are broadly similar. However, there are key points of difference. If you want to keep a close track of your stock, itemised receipts and less hassle with refunds iZettle offer the best solution. WorldPay Zinc allows you to take payments over the phone so if that’s important WorldPay are your best bet. The exciting possibility with Payleven is the prospect of the first contactless mobile chip and PIN reader. They also offer the most comprehensive customer service and multi accounts. I have reviewed each of these machines and apps individually, for more info follow the links below. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact me.
